Sitting in room one out of three,
I have only myself for company,
Thoughts crowd each other, waiting to come out,
Staying in my head, not quite reaching my mouth,
But thats okay, since there is no one else here,
Even if I were to speak, there is nothing to fear.
No one to offend, no one to appease,
Thinking what I want, doing what I please.
I get carried away in the deluge of thoughts,
into a realm of my own, where everything else is naught.
The cat jumps in, breaking the monotony,
Gambolling around,playing, generally frisky.
Her appearance breaks the reverie i was in,
as i reach out to toss her a paper ball from the bin.
She runs after it, chasing it with a mad fury,
It she had her way, it would end up as paper puree,
One loud meaow and she shoots off through the door,
Leaving no trace she was there, no paw prints on the floor.
Thoughts are sometimes like this, they come and they go,
Creating havoc while they're there, but leave nothing to show.
I am alone again, free to converse with my mind,
Explore its hidden corners, wondering if something new I'll find.
It is at times like these that one appreciates solitude,
Because thoughts often go unheard in the cacophony of the multitude.
Being alone is not so bad, its healthy from time to time,
It gives you time to examine your thoughts and also spring clean your mind.
There are times when no purging is required,
Others, when just rearranging your thoughts leaves you tired.
Sorting the tangle in your head is quite a task,
But would you have someone do it, if you knew who to ask?
Is there someone you would lay your mind open to,
So the I, Me, Myself, becomes Me, Myself and You?
If your answer is yes, keep that person close,
S/he is your soulmate, and you're lucky to have found one of those....

Poems I Like 2: The Dream
I dreamed that you had ceased to love me—
not that you had come from other beds
back to mine, or gone from mine to others,
just that something in your heart had stopped.
I willed myself awake to find you still
beside me. It was just a dream, I thought,
yet when I turned to kiss you, in your eyes
I saw that you had ceased to love me.
I willed myself awake a second time
to find myself alone, as I have been
these many months, but did not know if it
was terror or relief I felt, and whether
dreams unfold the past or make the future
plain. I dreamed that you had ceased to love me,
and know when I see nothing in your eyes
I can't dream myself awake a third time.

Poems I Like 1 :
Waiting for the fish to bit
Or waiting for wind to fly a kite.
Or waiting around for Friday night
Or waiting perhaps for their UncleJake
Or a pot to boil or a better break
Or a string of pearls or a pair of pants
Or a wig with curls or another chance.
Everyone is just waiting.

Verse Five: Winter Morning
A thread of silvery spider's web glinting in the sun,
A pair of yellow butterflies fluttering around as one,
The cawing of a crow mixing with the cheeps of sparrows,
Rays of golden sunlight shooting through like arrows,
Flowers blooming in every color, white, yellow, violet and red,
Aah! to be out in the sun on a cold morning, what more is to be said.
The path that I am walking on is long and full of turns,
Lined with trees and hedges, interspersed with little ferns,
holding a surprise, a new something around every corner,
S**t!! there's a dog! be careful, or you're a goner!!
The gardener sweeping the leaves the trees shed last night,
The cat slinking in the shadows, hissing to cause some fright.
A few more turns, some Hello!s and HI!s, and then I'm back to where I started,
Going along the same path again, as though I never departed,
The path is circular, with neither beginning nor end,
It stretches straight for a bit, then goes of on a bend,
This poem had a beginning so it should have the other,
The end of this one near near, to make way for another...

Verse Four: Neither Here nor There
I closed my eyes at a half past eleven,
it took some more time to shut my ken,
for thoughts most intense and most deep,
come to you when you're not fully asleep,
In this twilight zone everything's okay,
even things that are not by the light of the day,
Everything's possible, nothing to fear,
Things that were blurry, suddenly are clear,
When the body sleeps, the mind is at play,
planning things for you, no matter what others say,
The things that you dread don't seem to matter,
between the world and you, the mind chooses the latter,
For once in the whole day its alright to be selfish,
its okay to fantasize about finishing that chocolate dish,
It is of this time that I'm talking,
when the mind goes strolling without the legs walking,
Into the zone last night I gained admittance,
As though passing through some sort of fluid substance,
once there my mind was set free,
i could be you, him her or even me,
fantastical things seem but plausible,
Not even Harry Potter seems impossible,
I crossed this zone into the land of dreams,
where I cam fill paper by the hundreds of reams,
I don't have to think, I don't have to pause,
I cant write amazing poems just because,
Rhymes come so easy, poems nice and long,
Once or twice I think I even made a song!
but the thing about this zone, this time,
is that it does funny things to the mind.
The entrance and exit is a diaphanous veil,
That leads to the diffusion of thoughts without fail,
So only a trickle of the gush comes through,
clutching at mists and swirls of fog, you,
are left wondering what happened just now,
What was I thinking, what was so "WOW!!",
A few words of that poem are all that I can still remember,
and i have to find another word to rhyme other than December,
The time has come now to take my leave,
For I have put down whatever was left in the sieve.

Verse Three: Transience
The realisation stuck when the kitten became a cat,
the started the process that got me thinking that,
Life as we know it, never stays the same,
Who's fault is that? Is God to blame?
Noone responsible for this, except change itself,
Maybe it is brought about by a surly little elf,
The building that you saw being built is now old and gray,
Your hair also seems to be going exactly that way,
Songs you remember from your childhood play on Retro Hits,
The bands that you liked and emulated are absolute misfits,
You find yourself thinking the things your parents did,
You find yourself saying the same things to your kid!
The girl becomes a woman, the boy a man,
Do you wanna stop this, even if you can?
Life comes a full circle, ending where it started,
Those who were born yesterday, become dearly departed.
Eventually we all go into the light,
Once the bell rings, ending this fight.
For whom the bells will toll, you can never tell,
Soon it is time to say farewell,
Whether it is you leaving or someone else,
What will happen next, one can only guess,
One thing i know, of which I'm certain,
There is something else, behind that thin curtain.
By its nature itself change is not permanent,
So says a full moon while becoming a crescent,
Everything is changing, even you and me,
That is a relief, I think you'll agree.
Nothing lasts forever, not even this poem,
Or else it will go on ad nauseum,
If you don't know what the phrase means look it up,
Admitting it will not making you any less a grownup.
